21 Day Sugar Free Challenge


Starting April 7th, you will have the option between 2 levels of participation in our 21 Day Sugar Free Challenge. All participants will be entered into a raffle at the end but as an added bonus level 2 participants will be given two entries into the raffle. See below or ask for more details at the front desk.

Glycemic index (GI) is a measurement of how quickly blood sugar levels rise after eating a particular type of food. It is measured on a scale of 0 to 100, with the higher values given to foods that cause the more rapid rise to blood sugar. Pure glucose has a glycemic index of 100. Which food below has the highest glycemic index?

  1. A slice of whole-wheat bread
  2. A snickers bar
  3. A tablespoon of pure white sugar
  4. A banana

No, it’s not the pure sugar (GI = 68) or the snickers bar (GI=55) or the banana (GI 54). It’s the whole-wheat bread with a whopping glycemic index of 71! Are you having trouble losing those last few pounds? Are you feel fatigued after meals? It seems counterintuitive, but it’s a cold hard fact that few foods produce as much of a glucose and insulin response as bread.

21 Day Sugar Free Challenge Overview

Level 1

Level 1 participants are to abstain from all sweeteners including: table sugar, honey, corn syrup and agave nectar. Cut out the candies, cookies, and cakes! In addition, we are requesting that you abstain from all artificial sweeteners such as Equal or NutraSweet.

GOAL: Reduce or eliminate sugar cravings, dependency, and habits.

Level 2

Level to participation includes all of the components of level 1, but also requires you to abstain from grains. This includes breads, pastas, crackers and any other product containing grain.
